In 2013, Dubai won the bid to host Expo 2020 which is a huge boost for the city’s future growth and will directly benefit the hospitality, tourism and trade industry.

Expo 2020 in Dubai will be the first World Expo to be hosted in the MENASA region (Middle East, North Africa and South Asia) and will essentially provide a platform for connectivity to help form and build new partnerships for future development and expansion.

The master plan for Expo 2020 in Dubai includes 180 pavilions spanning 1.2 million square metres. Work commenced in 2015 and is due for completion by 2019.

It is estimated that Expo 2020 will boost Dubai’s economy by an overwhelming $23 billion, accounting for 24.4% of its overall GDP and the milestone event will create over 277,000 jobs in the region. According to the Bank of America Merrill Lynch, this will as a result boost GDP by 2% between 2020 and 2021.

It is estimated that 25 million visitors will visit Expo 2020 in Dubai which will provide a huge boost to the already successful tourism and hospitality industry.
